OUR HISTORY

Welcome to the Retired Law Enforcement Association of Southwest Florida.
RLEASWFL was founded in 1980 and incorporated in 1986. We are a nonprofit organization of retired Law Enforcement officers from all over the U.S. and Canada. Our members work hard in their communities throughout SW Fla to identify the needs of law enforcement K9 units.
We have adopted a program of raising funds to provide police K9 units with much needed equipment such as protective ballistic vests, Roca bite training suit, AceK9 Hot and Pop door poppers as well as other needed accessories.

To date our organization is proud to have purchased and donated 70 bullet and stab resistant vests for police K9s from 12 different departments within our area. We have also purchased and donated Roca Bite training suits to K9 units from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Department as well as Sarasota and Hendry County Sheriffs as well as the North Port police Department K9 unit. As of June 2025, we donated tactical K9 repelling harnesses along with eye and ear protection to Charlotte Co. Sheriff so the K9s can be air dropped into hard-to-reach areas for search and rescue. We have also
diversified by purchasing tactical backpacks for the Charlotte Co. Sheriff’s school resource officers. We can do this by raising funds through fundraisers and contributions from compassionate and caring citizens and businesses.

I am proud to have served as a law enforcement executive and now the president of the Retired Law Enforcement Association of SW Fla. I am blessed to have an outstanding executive board to assist me in leading the finest group of retired men and women who have given so many years to the protection of others.

-Michael Greenfeder, President
